Description
Join Chuckanut Bay Rugby Club for a fun indoor rugby program at Carl Cozier Elementary! Open to elementary students of all skill levels, this non-contact flag rugby program runs from December to March 2025 in the school gym. Each session includes warmups, skill-building drills, and Rippa Rugby scrimmages, teaching rugby fundamentals like ball handling, teamwork, and spatial awareness. Our experienced coaches ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. No prior experience is needed—come learn, play, and have fun with us!
Waivers

PARTICIPANT’S WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT:

1.  Activity. I, the undersigned, have voluntarily requested to participate in the following sponsored activity (the “Activity”) conducted by the Chuckanut Bay Athletic Association (the “Association”):

ACTIVITY: Rugby for Men, Women or any club Youth Team

DATE CONDUCTED: Spring 2025

As a participant, I agree to follow the rules established by the Association and agree to exercise reasonable care while participating in this Activity. I further agree to be bound by the terms set forth below, including but not limited to the terms of the waiver, release and hold harmless.

 

2.  Voluntary Participation. I understand that participation in this Activity is entirely voluntary and I represent that participation is of personal value to me.

 

3.  Assumption of Risk. I am aware of the inherent risks and dangers of participating in the Activity, including but not limited to, the risk of serious bodily injury or death. I understand that participating in this Activity may subject me to unpredictable and/or dangerous situations. I assume full responsibility for all injuries, death and/or damages I may suffer as a result of my participation in the Activity, regardless of whether the injuries, death and/or damages may be caused by the sole or concurrent negligence of the Association.

 

4. Insurance: I understand and acknowledge that the Chuckanut Bay Athletic Association does not provide any form of medical insurance coverage for participants in the sponsored activity. I am solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining my own health, life, and any other insurance policies that may be necessary to cover any personal injury, illness, property damage, or other potential risks that may arise during my participation in the activity.

I acknowledge that I have been informed to review and secure appropriate insurance coverage, and I release the Chuckanut Bay Athletic Association from any responsibility for any costs or liabilities associated with injuries, damages, or other claims that may occur during or as a result of my participation in the sponsored activity.

 

5. Photography and Publicity: I hereby grant the Chuckanut Bay Athletic Association, its representatives, and employees the right to take photographs and videos of me during the sponsored activity described in this agreement. I authorize the Association, its assigns, and transferees to copyright, use, and publish the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that the Chuckanut Bay Athletic Association may use such photographs and videos of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including, but not limited to, publicity, advertising, social media, and web content. I understand and agree that all photographs and videos will become the property of the Chuckanut Bay Athletic Association and will not be returned. If I do not wish to be photographed or recorded, I will inform the Association in writing before the activity.

 

6.  Waiver. For and in consideration of the Association allowing me to participate in the Activity and as an inducement to the Association, I hereby waive any claims, demands, and/or causes of action, whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, that I may hereinafter have against the Association, its officials, employees, volunteers and agents arising from or related to my participation in the Activity.

 

7.  Release. For and in consideration of the Association allowing me to participate in the Activity and as an inducement to the Association, I hereby release the Association, its officials, employees, volunteers and agents from any and all liability whatsoever for any injuries, death, claims, demands, damages and/or causes of action, whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, arising from or related to my participation in the Activity.

 

8.  Hold Harmless. For and in consideration of the Association allowing me to participate in the Activity and as an inducement to the Association, I hereby agree to save, defend and hold the Association, its officials, employees, volunteers and agents harmless from any claims, demands, damages and/or causes of action, whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, brought by myself or on my behalf or derived from my injuries or death during my participation in the Activity.

 

9. Severability: In the event that any provision or part of this Participant’s Waiver, Release of Liability, and Hold Harmless Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions and parts shall remain in full force and effect. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the other provisions or parts of this agreement.

 

10.  Applicable Law. The waiver is governed by the laws of the state of Washington.

 

11.  Binding Nature. This waiver, release and hold harmless shall be binding on me and my heirs, successors and assigns.

 

 

I REPRESENT THAT I AM THE PARENT/GUARDIAN OF THE UNDERSIGNED PARTICIPANT, WHO IS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE. I HAVE READ THE ABOVE RELEASE AND AM FULLY FAMILIAR WITH THE CONTENTS THEREOF. IN PARTICULAR, THE UNDERSIGNED REPRESENTS AND WARRANTS THAT HE/ SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT THIS DOCUMENT IS A WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL RIGHTS TO MAKE A CLAIM AGAINST CHUCKANUT BAY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, ITS OFFICIALS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS AND/OR AGENTS. IN CONSIDERATION FOR ALLOWING MY CHILD/WARD TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES, I HEREBY CONSENT TO THE FOREGOING ON BEHALF OF MY CHILD/WARD AND AGREE THAT THIS RELEASE SHALL BE BINDING UPON ME, MY CHILD/WARD, HEIRS, LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES AND ASSIGNS

CHUCKANUT BAY RUGBY CLUB ANTI-BULLYING POLICY

1. Purpose

The Chuckanut Bay Rugby Club is committed to providing a safe, caring, and friendly environment for all players, coaches, volunteers, and members. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our club. This policy outlines our approach to preventing and addressing bullying to ensure that everyone can enjoy rugby in a supportive atmosphere.

2. Definition of Bullying

Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time. Bullying can be verbal, physical, social, or cyber, and includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.

Examples of bullying include:
  • Verbal Bullying: Teasing, name-calling, inappropriate sexual comments, taunting, threatening to cause harm.

  • Social Bullying: Spreading rumors, excluding someone from a group, embarrassing someone in public.

  • Physical Bullying: Hitting, kicking, pinching, spitting, tripping, pushing, taking or breaking someone’s things, making mean or rude hand gestures.

  • Cyberbullying: Bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. This includes social media, texts, and other online platforms.

3. Reporting Bullying

Any player, parent, coach, or member of the club who believes that bullying is occurring should report the incident to a coach, team manager, or board member as soon as possible. Reports can be made verbally or in writing.

4. Investigation

Upon receiving a report of bullying, the club will:

  • Take immediate action to ensure the safety of the alleged victim.

  • Conduct a thorough and confidential investigation, involving interviews with the victim, the accused, and any witnesses.

  • Keep detailed records of the investigation and findings.

5. Disciplinary Actions

If the investigation determines that bullying has occurred, the club will take appropriate disciplinary action, which may include:

  • Verbal warning

  • Written warning

  • Suspension from the club

  • Expulsion from the club

The severity of the disciplinary action will depend on the nature and frequency of the bullying behavior.

6. Support for the Victim

The club will offer support to the victim of bullying, which may include:

  • Recommended Counseling services

  • Peer support

  • Monitoring to ensure the bullying does not continue

7. Prevention Strategies

To prevent bullying, the Chuckanut Bay Rugby Club will:

  • Promote a positive club culture that encourages respect and inclusion.

  • Require appropriate training for coaches and volunteers on recognizing and preventing bullying.

  • Implement team-building activities to foster camaraderie and understanding among players.

  • Communicate this policy clearly to all members of the club.

8. Monitoring and Review

The club will regularly review this policy and its effectiveness. Feedback from players, parents, coaches, and members will be taken into consideration for any necessary revisions.
